Jim Cherrie is the director of Edison SmartConnect™, Southern California Edison’s (SCE’s) award-winning program to replace the company’s 5.3 million electricity meters with “smart” meters that will enable customer’s to better manage their energy use and SCE to better manage its electricity grid. His responsibilities include Product Development, Contract Mgmt, Quality Mgmt, and Field Deployment.

Expected to cost more than $1 billion and to take 4 years to complete, the Edison SmartConnect™ program is a major undertaking expected to reduce green-house gas emissions in California while contributing to a more reliable power grid.

Cherrie joined SCE in 2007. Previously, he worked for seven years with Sempra Energy, most recently as vice president of marketing for Sempra Energy Solutions. Before that he held several management positions with Scottish Power, where he worked for over 20 years. Cherrie’s background includes managing industry alliances, product development, technology management, quality management, program management, customer service, marketing, transmission, and distribution.

Cherrie holds an MBA with distinction from Dundee Business School in the UK.
